Obama Nation

Obama Nation

You know what rhymes with ObamaNation? Abomination and both are what’s happening to livestock producers. The Environmental Protection Agency recently announced an endangerment finding for carbon dioxide and several other greenhouse gases.  American Farm Bureau climate change specialist Rick Krause explains why this could significantly impact agriculture. “The endangerment finding  is the next step toward regulating greenhouse gases under the clean air act and once the endangerment finding has been made EPA is then required to issue regulations.”

Livestock producers could especially be impacted by this finding.

(Krause) “Agriculture’s going to be severely impacted as a result of an endangerment finding and regulation under the clean air act. For example the Title Five permit program which will require any entities that emit more than 100 tons per year of greenhouse gases to continue operating will affect more than 90 percent of the livestock industry in the United States.”

But the most repugnant part of this whole effort is the timing. Krause believes that it was political posturing run amok.

(Krause): “I think the announcement was made specifically to affect Copenhagen negotiations and to demonstrate some kind of a commitment by the United States. Really at no time has there been greater doubt as to the science behind climate change and we’re a little surprised they decided to make this announcement now while this science has been called into serious question.”

I wonder what the community organizer’s going to tell his community when there’s nothing to eat.
