USDA Purchase & Reward for Shooter. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Northwest Report.

In Kansas City Wednesday, Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack told members of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting that USDA intends to purchase 82.6-million dollars worth of products for federal food nutrition assistance programs.

VILSACK: I want to publicly announce today our intention to use our Section 32 authority to make additional commodity purchases. We will purchase between several buys $50 million dollars of pork which together with a $30 million dollar buy in September equals $80 million dollars in the last 2 months.

The purchase will also include cherries, plums and apple products and the purchases will assist producers who are currently struggling due to depressed market conditions.

A second reward has been offered for information leading to the capture of whoever shot three pregnant cows in Ruch (roosh) last week. Rancher Tim Hunter says two of the three cows had to be euthanized. The other was found dead; it had been dragged a half-mile and left mutilated by the side of a road. The Humane Society of the United States has put up $2,500 just days after the Rogue Valley Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association offered a $2,000 reward. The hang gliders use Hunter's field.

Now here’s today’s Washington Grange Report.
