Waterbrook Wines for Summer

Waterbrook Wines for Summer

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. A few weeks ago I stopped by the new Waterbrook winery in Walla Walla Washington and I found some very interesting summer wines!

The new Waterbrook winery and tasting room facility just outside Walla Walla is absolutely beautiful and quite a welcoming space. From the roomy and well appointed patio to the spacious tasting room and very welcoming staff I had a great time. But what I want to tell you about is the summer wines I found. I didn’t have time to taste everything so I asked for recommendations and Wow! The very first wine was the 2007 Pinot Gris. Just plain lovely with delicate perfume in the nose and bright fruit with good acid, all contributing to a perfect wine for summer. I also want to say I don’t ordinarily think of Chardonnay as a great summer wine. The 2007 Reserve Chardonnay from Waterbrook changed my mind. This Chard is buttery but not gooey and with just 55 percent new oak used in the making, the oak does not mask the fruit, making it delightful. And yes a really nice summer wine. The 2007 Reserve Syrah could use just a little more time, but I really liked it for summer, as it was velvety and smooth with a lighter finish. Give these Waterbrook wines a taste this summer and let me know what you think. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today’s Vine to Wine.
