National Wild Horse Adoption Day

Hands down the best horses I have owned have been rescues…. I’m Susan Allen in studio for Jeff,  who is  out harvesting and when I return after the break I’ll tell you why. I have been blessed  to have had  some nice horses over the years, but the ones that captured my heart and out preformed my wildest expectations were saved from dire situations. The first, many years ago was an ex race horse  covered in  rain rot that blossomed into a  beauty featured in Horse and Rider magazine. The most athletic and intelligent  equine in our herd today  is  a mare that ran wild until she was eight, and my talented little  heel horse  Mighty Mouse is  a rescue.  It brings me joy to have played a part in this legacy of  horse makeovers… that is why I am such a  fan of the work of  Mustang  Heritage Foundation and their  Extreme Mustang Makeover Challenge. This group showcases not only  the versatility of America’s wild horse but also the creativity of those that train them. This coming month they have joined forces with other national animal advocacy groups for a single goal, to see one thousand  wild horses find new homes by September 26th    The first National Wild Horse Adoption Day nationalwildhorseadoptionday.org .  So…If horses are your  passion please consider adopting a mustang this month. The  Mustang Heritage Foundation at mustangheritagefoundation.org  has great resources to guide you through the process.   These icons of the West deserve more than a life in a holding pen. Unleash their potential, trust me, in the end you’ll  find like I have, that they unleashed yours. I’m Susan Allen
