Arnold Aviation Continues
What’s the old adage? Neither rain, nor sleet, nor hail…or something to that effect can keep the mailman from delivering. One big obstacle that can get in the way however is the man paying the bills, as in Uncle Sam who said no more to Arnold Aviation. The U.S. Postal Service announced plans in March to sever its approximately $43,000-a-year contract with Ray Arnold, who flies the only backcountry air mail route left in the contiguous 48 states. But then came the reaction from Idaho’s politicians who were hearing from their admittedly small constituency that “This ain’t right”. Here’s Carol: “They just thought it was an easy chop and didn’t realize the people that it served and that it was necessary, and then the quotation that the postmaster General had said that they had to deliver no matter what it took, so they put that in his face and that was the turning point.”
