Ranking cut-off date extended for EQIP
Washington Ag Today July 2, 2009 Washington’s most popular agricultural conservation program’s application ranking cut-off date for fiscal year 2010 funding has been extended. Brown: “Well we have extended our ranking cut-off date from July 15th up to August the 14th for folks wanting to sign up for our fiscal year 2010 EQIP funding.” That’s Dave Brown, Assistant State Conservationist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service. He explains why the extension in the ranking cut-off date for the voluntary Environmental Quality Incentives Program. Brown: “One, with the new farm bill coming out last year it was just some delay in getting final program information available, and with our EQIP program we allow our local working groups in each of ten teams to develop the 2010 EQIP priorities and we wanted to give them just a little bit more time to get those priorities developed, and also make sure we have enough time for interested participants to see what those priorities are and decided whether or not they want to apply.” Brown emphasizes that producers can file application for NRCS programs at any time during the year, it’s just that periodic ranking deadlines are established so applications on file at that time can be evaluated for the next available funding allocation.
