Horses have always helped mankind, in fact cavalry horses have been known to guide their injured rider to safety. I’m Jeff Keane stay tuned, after the break, I’ll be back with a story about a  woman whose life depends on a tiny horse. Susan. it is amazing that to think that a blind person can use  a Miniature horse as a “guide dog”, Confetti,  a tiny Appaloosa has become Cheryl Spenser’s eyes.  Jeff, Cheryl Spenser of Florida will tell you her mini horse companion can do everything and more than the two previous guide dogs she has owned. And the best part, unlike a seeing eye  dog, is that  a mini horse can live 30 to 40 years. The  29 inch Confetti rides in Cheryl’s van, and like a police horse is rarely distracted and stands patiently at length when the Spenser’s dine out. The little pony has the run the   house and  is potty trained, nuzzling Cheryl’s  hand when she needs to go out.  Jeff since covering this story I have discovered there is   a guide horse foundation that provides  horses for blind candidates. Susan they aren’t for everyone but in certain situations a guide horse might work out   better than a dog. Some people are allergic to dogs, others afraid. Also for disabled people a mini-horse is more docile yet stronger,   providing support for that person who struggles getting up out of a chair. Dogs age quickly, while a horse keeps it’s stamina and …. they don’t get fleas! I’m Jeff Keane.
