Idaho February Snow Report

Idaho February Snow Report

The month of February has proved to be something of a bust when it comes to snowfall in Idaho. NRCS snow expert Ron Abromovich discusses the problem.

(Abromovich) “It’s kinda been like a little doughnut hole above Idaho, especially Southern Idaho, and the storms are going around us and not going through us, we’re not in the zonal patterns, we’re getting a little bit of flurries but we really need some big storms to start hitting our state.”

All of that said, get ready and listen for your area as we take a tour around the state for snowpack.

(Abromovich) “At the lowest is the Northern panhandle near the Canadian border, they’re only 68% of average, the Clearwater Basin’s 83%, the Salmon Basin’s 80%, Weiser and Payette are 71% of average, the Boise Basin’s at 74, Bigwood is also 74, Big Lost Basin is 79, then Henry’s Fork and Teton Basins are 80, and the Snake Basin above Pallisades is at 90% of average, they had some good precipitation in the headwaters of the Snake River in January, Oakley Basin is 81%, Salmon Falls 94, Bruno’s 101%, Owyhee Basin’s at 93 and the Bear River Basin is 96% of average
