01/19/09 Presidential Mustangs

Wild horses have made the news numerous times this past year from the popular extreme mustang makeover TV show to Madeleine Picken's, wife of billionaire T. Boone Pickens announcement that she will adopt the thirty thousand wild horses and burros in BLM holding pens. Now mustangs will be part of presidential history. I'm Jeff Keane, stay tuned I will be back with the story. You know some folks are saying that wild horses couldn't keep them from attending Barack Obama's inauguration. They won't have to worry because eight mustangs from the Northwest have been invited to march in tomorrows inauguration parade. Here is Susan with the story. Jeff, these are the very horses you did a feature on last year; the mustangs trained by inmates in the Colorado prison system that are used by the Border Patrol to protect our northern border. It is pretty amazing that these horses that ran wild less than two years ago have already appeared in Chicago's St. Patrick's Day Parade and Spokane's Lilac Parade. We don't know yet which equines from the Spokane Sector have been picked to travel to DC but speculation is that it will be a colorful group, with including paints, buckskins, and duns. Susan It will be a memorable site, to see those former wild horses marching in the company of the agency's honor guard and bagpipe and drum team. I'm Jeff Keane.
