11/07/08 Veteran's Day 2008

November is a month for giving thanks. I'm Jeff Keane; I'll be right back to remind you of a day that should never be overlooked. November is the time when just about everyone is looking forward to a Thanksgiving Day dinner with family and friends. Maybe it's only one day or possibly the family and favorite people can get together for a little longer which is always nice. Thanksgiving is a big day in November, but there is a day earlier in the month that I hope will never be forgotten. November 11th is Veteran's Day. This date should possibly be the most revered day of the year for all Americans. Without the sacrifices of the people we honor at this time, none of the other celebrations we treasure would be possible. For that matter, everyday that we are free to work and play would not be ours without the time and the part of themselves that these men and women gave to their country. I know this day means more to me, as I get older; maybe I realize how much I owe our veterans. Every one of us knows a veteran, it needs to be our duty to remember them, after all, they performed their duty. Thank a veteran and you'll probably hear "you're welcome" or "no problem." Most are very humble about the great gift they preserved for us. Don't let this day slip by without being thankful for our great Americans. They probably don't think of themselves as great, but we all know better. I'm Jeff Keane.
