10/15/08 Clore Update Part 2

Clore Update Part 2. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report. Hope Moore has a vision. Besides running her own winery, Heaven's Cave, she is the chairman of the Walter Clore Wine & Culinary Center board. The vision is a place where people can discover all there is about wine and agricultural products in Washington State. MOORE: We're designing it to be a center that will attract individuals, people from the media; people from the industry and really give them a wide range of both educational opportunities and to have some fun. The Clore Center was conceived as a tribute to Walter J. Clore who was instrumental in the development of the Washington wine industry. Moore says the initial concept has evolved. MOORE: When you recognize that your business plan and your fundamental concept needs to be revised, you really have to go back and do all your homework and that's what's taking us some time. We've spent considerable time doing our business plan, we've spent considerable time re-doing the conceptual design of what's going to be presented when people walk in the door of the Clore Center. So far the Center has raised just under half of the $10-million dollars needed to complete the project. MOORE: We've raised money from both the federal government, the state, industry and also quite a bit of private money from non-industry supporters and we currently have a request in with both the state and federal agencies for the remaining money. That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
