Update on Clore Center. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
The Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center is still in the works. But from it's beginnings it is has been changing as a better vision of what the center should be comes into view according to Hope Moore with Heaven's Cave Winery and Chairman of the Clore Center board.
MOORE: The Clore Center, I think when it was originally envisioned was primarily focused on just the wine industry and one of the things that the new board as done is really look at what is the best thing both for the valley and Prosser and the state in terms of creating a center that would be more of a destination so one of the first things we did was expanded the mission to really focus on both wine and culinary and basically all the agricultural products that are produced in our state.
Moore says most everything on our dinner table is produced here in the state and that had to be taken into consideration.
MOORE: We recognize that we have an opportunity to educate consumers and visitors to all that the state has to offer. So we sat and looked at the plan for the center and really felt that we needed to expand it so we had to go back not to the drawing board but go back and kind of re-do our business plan and really expand the vision of what we had planned for the center.
According to Moore they have even revamped the original blueprints.
MOORE: I think where we ended up is an improvement and will be a destination for people to come to where they can learn about viticulture and enology and the history of the area; learn about culinary and how it relates to our region.
More tomorrow.
