09/30/08 Northwest professional cowboys and cowgirls headed to finals

The Northwest is becoming known for sending more than it's share of competitors to the National Finals Rodeo. I'm Jeff Keane stayed tuned to learn who made it to Vegas this December. It is been a great rodeo season for Northwest Cowboys and Cowgirls, here is Susan Allen with an update. Jeff it is amazing how many professional rodeo competitors are from our own backyard. Here are the standings as of last week. Team roping is booming in the Northwest and we will be well represented at the finals. The Minor brothers, Brady and Riley from Ellensburg are currently fifth. My favorite; Matt Funk formally form Wenatchee, now Hermiston, and his partner Bucky Cambell, who dang it& just broke his ankle on a rank colt are seventh. Jake Stanley from Hermiston is tenth. Trevor Knowles from Mt. Vernon Oregon rides the bubble for Steer Wrestling and Tyson Durfey from Colbert Washington sits eight in Tie Down. Zack Oakes from Elk Washington also is eighth but in Bull riding while Marcus Michaelis from Caldwell is on the bubble at sixteenth. Brenda Mays from Terrebone Oregon represents is our lone Barrel racer. World champion bareback rider Bobby Mote from Culver Oregon comes back strongly at third along with Ryan Gray from Cheney now tenth. Susan, I want to tip my hat to all these great northwest cowboys I can't wait for the national Finals this year. I'm Jeff Keane.
