Environmental activists can be radically entertaining. I'm Jeff Keane; I'll be back in one minute to give one example. Concerned environmentalist Derrick Z. Jackson writing for The Boston Globe titled his editorial "One Less Burger, One Safer Planet." Now that's a catchy little phrase and entertaining on the silly scale. Jackson calls on the next U.S. president to "put meat on the bones of environmental policy by telling us to eat less of it." This is when the entertainment factor really raises for me because I let my mind wander and I can see a meat police officer standing at my table telling me if that next piece of beef touches my lips, it will be a vegetable prison cell where I'll be gnawing on lettuce and crunching carrots for ninety days. I sure hope I don't vote for that president. This wonderful writing of Mr. Jackson's was cited in an editorial by Greg Henderson in Drovers magazine. I really don't care if Mr. Jackson doesn't want to eat beef but I don't think he should use the global warming card in his writing to try to scare other people out of eating beef or any other meat. The fact is not all land will raise fruits and vegetables and the land that will many times is a favorite for housing and development. Cattle can convert grasses that grow well on non-tillable land into high quality protein. The more people that eat beef leave more vegetables for you, Mr. Jackson. Think about it. I'm Jeff Keane.
