The United Nations has dubbed 2008 as the International Year of the Potato. The Idaho Potato Commission is using that to help feed some of the needy. Commission CEO Frank Muir says each month American chefs are posting their favorite potato recipes on the idahopotatoes.com website. MUIR "Every time a consumer clicks on that recipe we are donating ten cents, up to 50 thousand dollars to UNICEF at the end of this year." A kudos to the chefs who are shared their own recipes for potato crab tator tots, casuelitas and carnitas, potato shrimp and parmesan soufflé mashed potatoes, just to name a few. MUIR "We have some very well chefs. Michael Symon is a two time Iron Chef winner off the Food Network kicked it off in February so that is the caliber of chefs that are on this program and they're doing it at no cost. They're donating their time, their recipes. Many of them are doing interviews across the country in their local markets and they're all supporting this effort to raise money for UNICEF." So every time you check out a new potato recipe on the website UNICEF gets more help in feeding starving children around the globe. Today's Idaho Ag News Bill Scott
