08/01/08 Kristen Armstrong Beijing bound

This time around Kristin Armstrong has much higher expectations. This is the second time that the Boise cyclist will compete in the Olympic Games and she set some lofty goals after the '04 Athens games. ARMSTRONG "I wanted to go there and I wanted to win this time around and so realistically Beijing has its been the biggest goal and the biggest thing on my mind for the past four years." Kristin leaves today for California where she will join other American athletes for the trip to China on Sunday. Her first competition is a road race on August 10th and a time trial on the 13th. It's been a lot of hard work, house of training and good nutrition. That's why she teamed up with the United Dairymen of Idaho to tout the benefits of milk. Armstrong has been a big milk drinker especially after racing. ARMSTRONG "Your body absorbs it better. It has natural electrolytes so it helps to restore your fluid balance. It provides the carbohydrates you need and it also has protein obviously in it which also helps to replenish your muscles after you're racing." She says milk has so many positive components that it's a part of her nutritional regime. And her secret weapon; chocolate milk. It could help Kristin Armstrong secure a gold medal.
