So who is the world's greatest roper? I'm Jeff Keane stay tuned after the break to find out! One of pro rodeo's most unique events created just two years ago, Wrangler World's Greatest Roper or WWGR was held in Reno June 22. Here is my co-host Susan Allen with more on the success of WWGR and the cowboy from Wyoming crowned champion. Jeff, folks flocked to Reno from throughout our great nation for a series of events that are becoming as popular as the NFR. The Wrangler Worlds Greatest Roper marks the start of an action packed week that includes Bob Feist Invitational Team Roping and the Reno Rodeo. Twenty of our top pro-ropers, representing 40 world championships between them all competed by invitation only in tie -down roping and heading and heeling. Audiences watched the likes of Chad Masters and Trevor Brazil, the best of the best, rope 12 head of stock over two days. The pressure mounted as the top five contestants roped an additional three head to determine the final championship. K.C. Jones won it all and took home twenty five thousand dollars and a buckle for his first world title. Susan, this week of rodeo has become so lucrative that if a cowboy would have won the "triple crown" by winning the WWGR, the Bob Fiest and then the average in team or tie down roping at the Reno Rodeo he could have netted an additional $225,000 bonus. Wow. It is nice to see new formats and big crowds. I'm Jeff Keane.
