This summer will find a lot of us spending our vacations at home instead of traveling to far off destinations. At first this may seem like a major disappointment, but strangely enough, many Americans are rediscovering their own "backyard" and actually enjoying it. And if you're like me, you're finding out how much there really is to do and see in your own town and the close surrounding area. How many of us have lived for years near an attraction that's deemed a desired tourist destination without ever having been there ourselves? Remember too that if you are staying at home, do NOT do anything on that "honey do" list! Have the vacation mindset; bask in the sun, read a book while sipping a mint julep, sleep late, or make smores and campout in the backyard. In fact, the Great American Backyard Campout is June 28th. And let's face it; with all the packing and traveling most vacations spent abroad leave you feeling like you need another vacation! So go ahead, risk looking like a tourist in your own town, and don't forget your camera!
