04/04/08 Re-branding Wine

Re-Branding Wine. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report. Sometimes it's hard to remake a good thing. Take the movie version of the Wild, Wild West. I rest my case. But when the basic product remains the same sometimes it's time for a bit of an upgrade. Two Mountain Winery is in the process of re-branding their wines and what was a really good bottle of wine is now even better. Matt Rawn, co-owner of Two Mountain Winery explains. RAWN: The original label we had was a good label but we kind of reached the maximum potential for it as far as what we saw, we being my brother and I. Not only that but once we bought it we decided we needed to kind of put our own fingerprint on things Two Mountain was established in 2002 by Matt & Patrick Rawn's uncle who died in 2006. That's when the brothers bought it. RAWN: The tasting room has stayed the same, the wines have stayed the same but we needed something that would be a bit more catchy and the old label was fine to start out with but it just wasn't what we needed so we could move forward in this industry with the winery the way we see it going. He says they are trying to remain an estate winery. RAWN: We have 26 acres of our own vineyard and we have 8 different varieties in there. Out of those 8 varieties we make somewhere between 7 and 10 wines on a given year ranging from the dry Rieslings to a Port to the big Cabs and whatever else is in between. Two Mountain Winery will be featuring some of their wines at this years Taste Seattle event going on this weekend. That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
