Fruit Frost and DuPont. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
Beginning today, the Northwest Ag Information Network will once again be presenting the Fruit Frost Report with timely weather information from staff meteorologist Tim Creek. This year, we are proud to have DuPont sponsor the frost report. DuPont product manager Lars Swanson talks about the new product, Altacor® Insecticide.
SWANSON: Altacor® is a new insecticide, new breakthrough mode of action option to deliver effective control of key pests in apples, pears, stone fruits and other crops. It's going to deliver what growers need which is long lasting protection of crop quality and yield.
Altacor® won't be registered until sometime in April but Swanson says it is a great new option for replacing some of the insecticides being phased out.
SWANSON: Altacor® delivers very effective control across those multiple pests that will provide for effective use in lieu of those compounds in rotation with other effective products to deliver a program that will make the growers end up with a program that's as or more effective than their current options today.
One of the concerns people have these days leans towards the environmental issue.
SWANSON: What folks also have the opportunity to see with Altacor® is a very a very favorable safety and environmental profile combining breakthrough effectiveness and improvements in safety and environmental reduced risk compounds.
That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
