This Valentines Day is once again all about chocolate. Only this Chocolate has done more than any heart shaped box ever could to warm our own hearts. You see Chocolate is Chesapeake Bay Retriever currently the ward of WSU's college of Veterinary Medicine after one kind soul saved the dog with two crippled legs, (and a bright yellow ball) that had been wandering for over 6 months in the Tri- Cities area. Why no one ever helped the sweet creature is a question that has outraged many and helped to raise awareness for the plight of abandoned animals. Like we observed with Barbaro, the vet school at WSU is receiving a national outpouring of love and support for the cheerful Chessy as Chocolate undergoes numerous operations to walk again. So many folks have been inspired by the dog's capacity to love despite tremendous suffering that to date WSU has received $26,000 in donations towards his care and countless cards. It is tradition on Valentines Day to give chocolate to those we love, who would have thought that this Valentines Day "Chocolate" would be giving so much back love back to us.
