When Typhoon Haiyan devastated the central region of the Philippines last November, more than 13 percent of the country's population was affected — 12.9 million people. There were 1.9 million people left homeless and 2.5 million people were in need of food. The United States Potato Board was able to assist in immediate relief to those in need by having U.S. dehy potatoes available to food aid organizations.
