12/26/07 Lovers of wildlife

There are some very different lovers of wildlife. I'm Jeff Keane; I'll be back in one minute to tell you about them. I have noticed over the last few years there are different types of wildlife lovers. There are those who enjoy the sight of wildlife but have enough common sense to know that in certain areas they cannot be left to multiply without some type of control. Others enjoy wildlife but have no thought of anything other than their enjoyment of seeing the animals. I can't blame these people. I enjoy seeing wild animals also, but many of these animals need to be strictly in wild remote areas or if they are adjacent to production areas they need to have their numbers controlled. Many people are uneducated as to the problems that can be caused by overpopulation of any species of animals be it predator or grazers. These individuals, I think, can sometimes be misled by another set of wildlife lovers - the group that believes in any and all species of wildlife in any size population without regard for consequences suffered by production areas and those making a living from those areas. These individuals can be very persuasive touting their agenda, are backed by many dollars, and have no need or concern for common sense. The many dollars come from those they persuade to donate to a grand cause and do what is right for wild animals and nature in general. What this group has promoted and unleashed in the American west will be tomorrow's story. I'm Jeff Keane.
