Don and Georgia Dixon of Idaho Falls are the Idaho Farm Bureau's first power couple and this year's President Cup winning couple. Both spent decades working on congressional staffs.
GEORGIA-"I worked for ten years for Senator Jim McClure. I began to work for Senator Craig and I worked for him for twelve years."
DON-"I'm primarily a third generation potato farmer and mainly growing potatoes, grain, alfalfa hay, malt barley and malt barley seed and involved in a cow calf operation."
Georgia said she had to learn how to be a farm wife but she also learned the value of raising three children on a farm and passing on a work ethic to them.
GEORGIA "I mean they're expected to go out and do certain things. "
DON "Its really nice for a family to be able to see what their dad or their mom does as far as work. It involves nature, it involves process, it involves a lot of faith because you put a lot of seed into the ground or fertilizer and then expecting it of course to produce a harvest."
More about the Dixon's and their ties to Farm Bureau. That's tomorrow.
