12/05/07 Fat Santa

It seems that Christmas is constantly under siege and I for one get tired of it. The latest attack on Christmas traditions doesn't come from the ACLU but it does hail from activists. Now you would think that with all the emphasis on the melting of the polar cap as in "North Pole", these alarmists would have more to stew over than rail on about Santa's robust appearance. After all according to Al Gore's predictions, Jolly Old Saint Nick will be homeless before long. Yet on the Fox News Channel one talking head. Meme Roth chastised a soft drink company for using Jolly Old Saint Nick as their spokesperson. Now I for one am kind of offended that she called my favorite icon, (someone I believed in until I was 20)& obese , and to add even more salt to her word wound Ms. Roth implied that Santa sends a poor body language message to an overweight society . If that wasn't enough there was Mr. Scrooge , alias U.S. Surgeon General Steve Galson telling the Boston Herald that role models have an obligation to promote healthy lifestyles and "Santa is No different" A buff Santa? Ba Hum Bug!
