Walla Walla Goes to Seattle. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
I've many times found myself on a business trip or vacation sitting in a restaurant and being quite pleased to see the names of local wineries on the wine list. The Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance is hoping that diners will find their wines when they visit Seattle restaturants. Jordan Small is the Communications Associate for the Alliance.
SMALL: Washington Wine Commission used to work with Dine Around Seattle which is formerly 25 for 25 and I think they just decided not to continue the promotion and Walla Walla saw it as a great opportunity to work with some of our favorite restaurants in Seattle and get some exposure for our wineries so we jumped at that and it's been a great partnership so far.
Small says it's a chance to get a great meal and great wine for a great price.
SMALL: There are 30 restaurants in Seattle and diners can go to these 30 restaurants and get our price fixed meal for 30 dollars. I know a bunch of them are doing lunch as well and from our side of things we are working with our wineries to encourage them to work with their distributors to have Walla Walla wines featured in those 30 restaurants.
They started the promotion last year and it's a bi-annual event. So far the promotion has been a big success for Walla Walla wines.
SMALL: We're just hoping to increase exposure and have some new folks find out about Walla Walla wines and have some of our old customers revisit some of the Walla Walla wines and be able to enjoy them.
The promotion runs through November. Visit their website at dinearoundseattle.org for a list of restaurants.
