The Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance has been working for the past 6 years to educate the public of the impressive wine that region has to offer. Elizabeth Martin-Calder is the Executive Director.
MARTIN-CALDER: For the last 4 of those we've been in our current location which is on the second floor of the Walla Walla Valley Post Office and we are getting ready as of October 1st, we will be moving to our new location which is going to be on main street in Walla Walla on the second floor of the Barrett Building.
The move is due to growth and need for better access.
MARTIN-CALDER: W e do not have handicap accessibility here in our current location but then additionally as the wine region has grown so have the needs of the alliance so we are now a staff of 4 and therefore require additional office space as well as cooperate in all the activities we do.
Of course this is a very busy time for the wine industry and Elizabeth says the crop looks good.
MARTIN-CALDER: We're right in the middle of crush and harvest as you are full aware and the yields are looking great and the fruits looking beautiful.
They are working on a new website that will be interactive.
MARTIN-CALDER: You can get maps, you can get directions but additionally let's say you want to know what wineries are open on a Sunday afternoon that are serving Cabernet in their wine room and you can do a search of sorts and come up specifically with those wineries.
Visit their web site at wallawallawine.com.
