09/14/07 Lake Chelan Pt. 5

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. Last week I spent a few days in touring and tasting on the shores of Lake Chelan. Today we conclude our series about that burgeoning wine country. Okay let's get down to business! I just spent a week telling you a little about the Lake Chelan Wine Valley and as you know my new favorite wine is usually the wine in my glass at the time. I do not waste my time drinking wine I am not thoroughly enjoying. So here is the list of some of my new favorites from the Lake Chelan Wine Valley. I am not big on big Chardonnay  I personally like the fruit not the oak and I hit the Jackpot with three fabulous wines. Two were unoaked Chards one from Benson Vineyards estate Winery and Balsamroot Winery. The third was a barrel fermented Chard from Remember barrel fermenting does not impart as much oak as barrel aging. Then there was the Gewurtraminer from Tsillan Cellars Winery. I didn't know what to say other than oh my  I have to agree with others - it just may be the nicest Gewurztraminer in the state. I can't say that I liked many of the Viogniers but the one I had at Vin du Lac was so pretty I could not decide whether to drink it or dab it behind my ears.
