Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and as most of you know, my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. I just prefer not to waste my time drinking wine that I don't enjoy.
Recently, I had the pleasure of going wine tasting with my nephew and his friends, introducing them to a few Washington wineries. Well, over and again, one little white grape kept getting rave reviews. Even by those who profess not to like white wine at all seemed to enjoy any of the blends made with Viognier! This wine that has struck so many individuals is usually a dry well balanced and slightly "perfumey" wine. We had it blended with Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and of course by itself. All of the wines seemed layered with just a little more complexity in the nose which I attributed to the Viognier. This crisp lean and oh so easy to drink wine, is fabulous with every cheese I have served with it. It is a match for grilled or roasted chicken and pork and I like it all by itself too! It is a nice reminder that good Viognier is out there whether on its own or creating a team effort and it doesn't have to cost a fortune. Look for one to be your new house white wine I have found mine. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
