05/16/07 Wine In Mind

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and today we are going to talk about traveling this summer with wine in mind. I don't know anyone who doesn't look forward to vacation. Since you are a Vine to Wine listener, I imagine you make time to visit various wineries and different wine countries on your vacations. If you haven't already made plans then I want to invite you to eastern Washington, where unlike western Washington where it is still raining much of the time through June, our summer is already in full swing. We are home to the vineyards where the grapes grow for all of those trendy wineries making their homes in the suburbs outside of Seattle. And don't get me wrong if you don't have time to make the trip across the mountains they are a great place to visit. But, if you haven't visited the east in awhile there are many new wineries both large and small. Recreation on Lake Chelan is fabulous throw in a little afternoon wine tasting and it is even better. Go to a concert in the Gorge Amphitheater and spend the night in one of the luxurious rooms at Cave B Winery. If you choose to head through Yakima stop by the visitor Center for extensive information and directions to wineries throughout the Yakima Valley. Make your destination Prosser where you can rest overnight and wine and dine at one of the newest wineries Desert Wind. Nightlife in the Tri-Cities is relaxing with music in the well appointed wine lounge at Bookwalter Winery. From Chelan to Walla Walla, this is wine country Washington, and there is lots to see do and sip and you are most welcome to visit. Thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
