05/07/07 Never squat with spurs

Never squat with your spurs on, this bit of good advice has even found it's way to a book title, I'm Jeff Keane and I'll return shortly. Spurs can prove handy, as there are times a little prod is needed to get your saddle horse motivated in the right direction. Here's Becky with more on this pointed story. Well as you mentioned Jeff a little prod with a well placed spur can prove to be a beneficial aid of suggestion for your sticky mount. I caution however that you be aware you have spurs on even when your un-mounted. This seeming tiny extension of you legs cue can find your feet and sometimes-other parts of your body in a troublesome hang up. Are you trying to say that you have squatted with your spurs on? No Jeff not exactly but spurs have found me hung up in quite a few rather precarious positions, while driving, walking, navigating stairs and one very embarrassing day while leaving a restaurant with an un mentionable string of paper in tow, but I won't go into details. Maybe it's less about the spurs and more about my two left feet I stumble through life with. The only time I am remotely graceful is astride a horse, so I think I will stick to riding instead of walking and save myself from more awkward spur encounters. Don't feel bad Becky even the great comedian Red Skelton always got his spurs tangled in his cowboy skits, I'm Jeff Keane.
