On Friday we talked with Kelly Still, postharvest marketing manager for Syngenta Crop Protection about Syngenta's Scholar® postharvest fungicides. It has now been approved for Canadian export. But in addition, Scholar® has many added benefits.
STILL: The active ingredient doesn't break down while the fruit is in storage so it stays at a consistent level even if they're storing fruit for 10 or 12 months which can happen they will get good control and consistent control.
Not only has the product been approved for Canadian export, Still says it may soon be approved for other export markets.
STILL: We expect to be receiving the codex tolerance this summer for pome fruits. We already have the codex tolerance for stone fruits so that gives many other countries that will accept codex tolerance it gives them the freedom to export there also. Taiwan tolerance should come by the end of this year also.
Syngenta has developed an online resource for packers.
STILL: We have a website that's specifically designed for packers. It's called postharvestuniversity.com. At that point they can access the current MRL's. They can get information, the brochures and other information on all of our post harvest products and there's links to other post harvest sites that are there, too. It's a complete resource for post harvest information.
Syngeta's Scholar® is available in both 50% wettable powder and liquid.
