01/05/07 Terry

Terry I don't think we ever appreciate what we have at the moment. I'm Jeff Keane; I'll be back in one minute to tell you what you probably already know. In the business of life we all take moments and people for granted. We know we shouldn't but that's just the way life is sometimes. This flaw in human on character was shown in reality's light this spring when my cousin passed away much too young. We not only lost a family member but the ranch lost a riding partner. Terry had his own crops and business to look after, but if there was any way he could leave his work and help us when we needed him, he would. Terry never considered himself a cowboy, but he did a pretty good imitation of training colts, working cattle, branding, riding in all types of weather and having a good time. I remember the filly he trained that would take a bit like it was pure candy and stand like a rock while he got on but nearly bucked him off when a late spring hailstorm rattled off his new straw hat. He took his ribbing for that but got back at me when my horse made me part of a snowdrift. He thought it was real funny when he asked me to do it again, trouble was, I did. In all our rides we cured most of the world problems, told jokes, whined about the heat or cold and wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. We've rode by place after place this year that reminded us of Terry. The memories are not like having him here, but it's good we have them. Appreciate that special work and fun with people you enjoy you need to. I'm Jeff Keane.
