11/15/06 Wine Tasting Group

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and today we are going to explore thinking about starting a wine club during the next year. If you have ever wanted to be a part of a wine tasting group but you think you don't know enough about it to start your own, well guess what? I say you are wrong. And now is the time to do something about starting it. If you began in January, you could have one tasting per month, and by this time next year you will be well on your way to learning about wine. As a Christmas gift invite a few friends to your home to join in a January wine tasting. Pick a topic or a type of wine and plan a simple tasting. Do some homework so that you are able to share some things you learned while preparing for the event. If everyone has fun suggest that you continue learning and tasting together monthly. Perhaps you can lay out a schedule so that it falls on the same day of each month. For example, my tasting group meets on the third Wednesday of each month from 6:30 to about 9:00. The goal is to learn something about wine and the individual hosting is responsible for the topic and the style of presentation. There are enough people in my group that each of us only has to do it once a year. Above all, you will have fun and probably even learn something new about wine. If you are interested in starting a tasting group and would like some guidance feel free to send me an email to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
