Grain Growers Owed Money Have Limited Time to File Claims
If you sold grain in 2025 and are still waiting on a check, this may be a story worth paying close attention to. The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries is now seeking claims from grain producers who say they were never paid by Hansen-Mueller Company.According to the department, it is pursuing recovery of a surety bond that could help compensate eligible producers. Farmers who sold grain to Hansen-Mueller during 2025 and have not received payment may be able to recover a portion of those bond proceeds.
Alabama Agriculture Commissioner Rick Pate says the department is committed to helping producers recover funds they are owed and is encouraging anyone affected to submit the required documentation before the deadline.
Claims must include a Proof of Loss form, a worksheet, and supporting documentation. The deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. on June 23.
This issue stems from the ongoing Hansen-Mueller bankruptcy proceedings, which have affected grain producers in multiple states.
