A new hub designed to support farmers and agribusinesses is now open in Southwest Georgia.

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper has announced the launch of the Georgia Grown Resource Center in Albany, a partnership with the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission.

Georgia Resource Centers serve as a one stop shop, helping agribusinesses find what they need, where they need it, and connect directly with key services. Offerings include coordinated marketing and branding support, educational programs, food safety training, and assistance building retail and wholesale opportunities.

Harper says, “By bringing resources directly to Southwest Georgia, we’re giving agricultural businesses the tools they need to grow, compete, and succeed.”

Community leaders and industry professionals gathered April ninth to celebrate the opening, with remarks from Harper and Albany Mayor Bo Dorough.

Officials say the Albany location is the second of nine planned centers, all aimed at strengthening Georgia’s agriculture economy.
