2026 Florida Farm Bill Becomes Law
The state of Florida is doubling down on agriculture with a sweeping new law aimed at protecting farmers and rural communities.
According to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, state leaders gathered in Highlands County this week as the 2026 Florida Farm Bill was signed into law. Commissioner Wilton Simpson called it “another major win for the people who feed our state and our nation.” Officials say the legislation focuses on limiting government overreach, strengthening public safety, and preserving natural resources. They add it supports farmers by cutting regulations, protecting the use of gas-powered equipment, and expanding access to agricultural land.
The bill makes the Farmers Feeding Florida program permanent, helping deliver fresh food to families in need. It also adds protections for rural land, while the release says it cracks down on unsafe trucking practices and introduces new accountability for contractors. Additional measures support veterinarians and ban certain signal jamming devices.
The measure is Senate Bill 290, sponsored by Senator Keith Truenow and Representative Danny Alvarez.
