“We are expanding our capacity in the Southeast Asia office because that's a region where we see a lot of growth potential because of a growing population, a, you know, very rapidly expanding economy. Some countries in Southeast Asia have the largest GDP growth in the world, and it's an area where we've made a lot of headway with increasing the demand for wheat, you know, through increasing wheat consumption, but there still is a lot of work to be done. It's still one of the areas with the lowest per capita wheat consumption worldwide.”
Ledford for talks about her specific duties while stationed in Southeast Asia.
“It's really all about knowing people and making connections and building those bridges between the users in foreign countries and the farmers in the US.”
Ledford will be based in a Philippines office, the largest overall buyer of us wheat. The country is also the top market for soft white wheat and the leading destination for hard red spring wheat.
