US Sheep Inventory Down, Goat Inventory Up

The National Agricultural Statistics Service has released an updated us sheep and lamb inventories report as of January 1, NASA's Travis Averill,

"So, for the January one breeding sheep and lambs are at 3,610,000head down, 1.4% from last year, the replacement lambs are at 600,000 head down, 2.4% from 2025 ewes are at 2,850,000 head down, 1% from last year, the rams are at 160,000 down, 30% the 2025​ lamb crop was at 3,030,000​ head down three tenths of a percent from previous year."

And as for the US goat inventory, as of January 1,

​"The​ breakout of the goats, all kids are at 2,065,000​ head up six tenths of a percent from 2025 the replacement kids, are at 374,000​ up three tenths of a percent from last year, those are 1,539,000​ up seven tenths or percent from 2025 bucks are unchanged at 152,000​ head risk kit crop for 2025 was at 1,524,000​ head of nine tenths of a percent from 2024​"
