Florida Seeks New Partners to Feed Kids Through Summer BreakSpot
Within every farmer and producer is an instinctive calling to feed the hungry, a responsibility that has long made agriculture one of the most honorable professions. With that mission at the heart of Florida’s food system, the state is opening new opportunities to reach even more children in need. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking partners across Florida to help provide free, nutritious meals to children from low-income families through the 2026 Summer BreakSpot Program. The department is encouraging local nonprofits, schools, faith-based groups, and residential summer camps to join the effort, noting that these organizations are well positioned to reach underserved communities.
Registration is now open for 2026 program sponsors. To ensure timely approval and smooth operations, sponsors who request advance funds for June or July must submit a complete application by March 15, 2026, and be approved before their first day of service. All other sponsors must apply by April 15, 2026.
State officials say expanded partnerships will help make sure no child goes without a dependable meal when school is out for the summer.
