FSA and Snowmageddon
Yesterday I talked with Idaho State Executive Director for the Farm Service Agency (FSA), Kevin Andrus about some new disaster relief programs. That reminded me of Snowmageddon several years ago. Onion farmers went through Snowmageddon and a lot of sheds were toppled and onion crops ruined, that kind of thing. Speaker2: That's a great example, but that actually is in a different program than it also is coming out. We have a farm stored crop loss assistance for commodities that were lost because of a natural disaster that affected the loss of that. And then also there's one similarly for milk. But I don't know of any situation where nature has caused a loss of milk, but it is something that may be out there that I don't know about. But yes, I remember that on farm, stored crop loss assistance is something that, for those onion farmers is critical and they should reach out to their local FSA office and determine their eligibility. Speaker1: Okay. And by the local FSA office. That's you, right? Speaker2: I'm at the state office, but there are local state offices in most counties in the state that the producers should already know about, but they can get on the FSA website and figure out where there is one for them, if they don't already know. Speaker1: All right. So the website that Kevin just talked about is FSA.USDA.Gov If you need help by telephone(208) 378- 5650.
