Precision sprayers are gaining a reputation amongst farmers for drastically reducing chemical usage and in turn input costs. However, Ecorobotix CEO Dominique Mégret says there is another big benefit to this level of precision: less phytotoxicity on the crop itself.

Mégret… “ The fact that you don't touch the plant anymore, then it grows faster. Up to 30% faster. It's not scientifically proven at scale because we can only prove it where we've done it. We've done, three quarters of a million acres so far. We’re getting to the 1 million acres. But the more we do, the more amazing results we see because they haven't been touched by selective pesticides.”

This is great news for farmers of course, but also likely to resonate with consumers who are concerned about residue levels.

Mégret… “ Zero residue food. That's our objective because obviously end customers would put pressure on the big brands, the Nestles and Unilevers of this world who want to have zero residue suppliers up to the farmer. And that's what we are offering.”

Mégret says there are 20 universities testing this phytotoxicity and the difference precision spraying can make.
