Making changes to any farming operation can be a difficult and sometimes daunting task. But when it comes to incorporating regenerative farming practices, Dr. Erin Silva says this doesn’t have to be the case. Silva points to the various tools and resources now available that make the shift to organic or regenerative farming possible.

Silva… “ Knowledge is key–understanding where the resources are in your state or region. There are amazing conferences that are often held by universities and university extensions, but also nonprofits that are focused on whether it be organic or soil health. So going to those events, a lot of those events you hear from farmers directly in terms of their experiences and how they've made the transition successful on their farms. So going to those events, learning from other practitioners, others that are doing research, and then ideally finding mentors, building a community, and some of those mentorships are probably more face to face. There's also more and more groups and farmers are finding more and more support through virtual networks and different social platforms. Oftentimes those are promoted at these various conferences but building a community where that knowledge can be shared and questions can be answered.”

Once again, that’s Dr. Erin Silva of the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
