10/06/06 Wine Quotes

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and every once in awhile I like to read some of my favorite wine toasts and wine related quotations to you. In addition, since I can't think of anything else for today - I think today is a good day to do that. Whenever I read a thoughtful and profound comment on wine, I wish I could share it with someone immediately. Unfortunately, my family gets enough "winespeak". Today I am going to share thoughts from some famous and some anonymous from one of my favorite books. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. This first one is from an anonymous person and I quote "Okay, so it has sophisticated assertiveness, presumptuous breeding, elegant power, and respected finesse: What's it taste like?" I laughed too. And while we're giving credit to anonymous listen to this "People are like wine .. Age sours the bad and improves the good!" I agree. And here is my favorite from the famous wine writer Hugh Johnson who said "Wine is like sex in that few men will admit to not knowing all about it." And then I will leave you with a quote from M. Constantin-Weyer it is the best advice "One last word: never let a drunkard choose your wine. You may be sure he knows nothing about it. It is only sober people who know how to drink."
