CCA Exemption Update Pt 2
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. After three years of endless negotiations, Washington’s ag industry finally gets a response from the state addressing their exemption on the CCA fuel tax.Governor Bob Ferguson signed the updated bill last month, but the Washington Policy Center’s Ag Director, Pam Lewison says there are some caveats …
LEWISON … “There is a rebate account that people need to access to get their money back from the last few years. And, I have strongly encouraged people to do that. It’s a hill I will continue to die on over and over again.”
So, Lewison says get down to the Department of Licensing …
LEWISON … “It’s not often that the government says, hey, we have your money in a bucket. You should get it.”
Lewison says it will be worth your time …
LEWISON … “Be proactive. Get your money back. $4,500 bucks for 30-minutes of paperwork is not too shabby a payday.”
And so, moving forward …
LEWISON … “Seek out ways to follow what’s in the law, which is effectively a list-serve of where you can get your fuel available to you in a non-CCA tax manner. And work with your fuel distributor to make that you’re not being charged that when it’s in a bulk delivery or in any other manner.”
And if you are being charged, Lewison says talk to your distributor and say either participate or I’ll find another distributor.
