Often when we talk about the ability for technology to help with farm labor we automatically default to robots. But there are other ways technology can help address challenges with farm labor. Steve Mantle recently acquired 2nd Sight, an eleven year old company focused on measuring labor productivity.

Mantle… “ 60% of your costs are on labor, and it gives us the ability to not only help power your time cards and unlock who are your more productive versus less productive, and who isn't covering costs, particularly with adverse wage challenges. But ultimately help provide additional insights on top of that that can help you improve your on-farm efficiencies and provide some nice to have things like traceability. An example that we've seen with one of our growers is, they're losing about $4,000 a day on piece rate on folks that aren't about 20% of the labor that isn't covering minimum wage. And so using that as a retraining opportunity is huge, and we would love to engage with growers around that.”

2nd Sight has technology deployed throughout the world to help growers to get the most out of their labor costs.
