Not All Good Ideas Need Venture Capital

Venture capital has played a big role in funding ag tech innovation — and that’s a good thing, but plenty of innovations happen without it. Entrepreneur Tyler Nuss, believes not every great idea in agriculture needs to be VC-backed to make an impact.
Nuss… “Venture-backed startups. Great. That's awesome. We need ag tech investors and investment, but I think everyone's been drunk on venture capital, and I think there's like so many good opportunities in ag that just don't need to be VC-backed.”
Nuss and his brother Tim have successfully started businesses and built a podcast and following, all without venture capital funding.
Nuss… “Everyone is, it's, it's either one or zero. It feels like you have to do a VC-backed business or just don't do it at all. And I think there's so many opportunities that, especially with the rise of no-code tools, AI tools where you can build stuff really quickly, really cheaply, and fit a great niche market, but you don't have to overtake the world. And so I think there's a lot of opportunities and like that's why Tim and I are like, let's grab this domain. We have an idea, let's go spit something up. But we have to be somewhat focused. I think four is our absolute limit.”
