**The American Peanut Council was in Japan last week to engage with trade officials, importers, manufacturers, and other key stakeholders.

Japan is the fifth-largest destination for U.S. peanuts and peanut products.

In 2024, the U.S. peanut industry exported more than 16,000 metric tons to Japan, valued at over $31 million.

Delegates toured peanut roasting and sorting facilities and visited retail locations to observe how U.S. peanut products are positioned in Japan.

**The House Ag Committee voted along party lines to advance legislation that would cut as much as $300 billion in food aid spending to pay for Republicans’ domestic policy bill and some farm bill programs.

The measure now goes to the House Budget Committee for consideration before a full floor vote.

Politico says the GOP proposal would create the largest overhaul in decades to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

**U.S. retail egg prices dropped from the record-high prices

they hit earlier this year.

Government data shows the average price of a dozen Grade A eggs dropped to $5.12 last month after a record $6.23 in March.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, it was the first month-to-month drop in egg prices since last October.

The Associated Press reports the 12.7% drop in egg prices was the steepest in 30 years.
