Charges Dropped in Federal Lands Maude Battle

The Trump administration announced recently that it is dismissing all criminal charges against a South Dakota couple regarding a fence line dispute between their land and federal land. The family endured court appearances, legal fees and the threat of prison time due to heavy handed legal pressure from the last administration, according to Public Lands Council Executive Director Kaitlyn Glover,

“After nearly a year, or just right about a year, of work with USDA, both under the Biden administration and the Trump administration, with the White House, with the Forest Service and with with countless partners. The the Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, announced that those criminal the criminal elements of those charges have been dropped. It was a huge sigh of relief for the family, for those of us who have been working on it for this long, I hope that what comes out of this is a very clear recognition that there are a number of federal processes that can be used to solve issues between individuals and the government.”
