China Hits U.S. with 125% Tariffs and 90 Day Tariff Delay

**Sheep and goats, increasingly used to eat flammable vegetation in targeted areas, have become a key part of California’s wildfire prevention efforts.

But ranchers who depend on a viable sheep and goat industry, are feeling the squeeze due to a steep rise in the minimum wage they’re required to pay herders who look after their animals.

Since 2019, that wage has more than doubled, soaring this year to $4,820 a month.

The 2025 honorees are former assistant dean for UGA’s College of Ag and Environmental Sciences, David Bridges, and longtime business and peanut industry leader Ralph Evans.

This happened at last month’s 69th UGA Alumni Association Awards and Georgia Ag Hall of Fame Ceremony.

**Farmers across the U.S. were pleased to hear most countries will get a 90-day reprieve from the new tariffs announced April 2.

It is an opportunity for negotiations with our trading partners that could lead to consensus and potentially avoid permanent tariffs, along with improving market access for U.S. agriculture.

American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall says Farm Bureau appreciates President Trump’s decision to pause the reciprocal tariffs on dozens of America’s trading partners.

**China increased its tariff on U.S. imports to 125% on Saturday.

China’s Ministry of Finance announced the move Friday in response to the U.S. increasing its duties on goods from China to 125%.

The two countries have rapidly raised tariffs against each other since President Trump’s announcement of a 34% duty for imports from China.

The tit-for-tat exchange escalated last week when Trump increased tariffs on imports from China again despite pausing duties on most other countries.
